A 20-Minute Monthly Routine for Your Google Business Profile
Your profile isn't set and forget. Here's a short routine that keeps it active and accurate.
Most businesses set up their Google Business Profile once and never touch it again. That's a missed opportunity. For a lot of homeowners, your profile is the first thing they see, before they ever get to your website.
Keeping it current doesn't take hours. Here's a routine that takes about 20 minutes a month.
1. Check your info (2 minutes)
Hours, phone number, website link, and service area. Anyone can suggest edits to your profile, and Google sometimes applies them without you noticing. Make sure everything is still right.
2. Reply to every new review (5 minutes)
Thank people by name and mention the job when you can. For a bad review, stay calm, keep it short, and offer to talk it through offline. Future customers read your replies as closely as the reviews themselves.
3. Add new photos (5 minutes)
Upload a few photos from recent jobs. Real photos of your own work beat stock photos every time, and before and after shots work especially well.
Future customers read your replies as closely as the reviews themselves.
4. Post an update (5 minutes)
Share a recent project, a seasonal reminder, or an offer. Keep it short, add a photo, and link to the matching page on your website.
5. Look at the numbers (3 minutes)
Open the performance view and check calls, website clicks, direction requests, and the searches people used to find you. You're looking for trends month to month, not single days.
Put it on the calendar
Pick the same day each month and block out the time. It's easy to skip when work gets busy, and that's exactly when new reviews and photos pile up.
